Brazil’s Logum Makes 1st Ethanol Export to US Using Pipeline to Port

Logum Logistica, a Brazilian transportation company, carried out its first ethanol export deal to California using pipelines to move the biofuel from the producing region to the port. The company said it moved 40 million litres of ethanol from a terminal in Ribeirao Preto to the Ilha D’Agua port in Rio de Janeiro using a combination of short truck trips and its pipeline system for a total rout of 745 km (462.92 miles). It also added that using pipeline prevented the use of more than 700 trucks, estimating the operation avoided around 2,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Belarus Suspends Grain Exports After Poor Harvest

Belarus has completed the 2021 harvest, threshing 6.2m tonnes of grain, which is 1m tonnes less compared to 2020. The Government has therefore imposed a six-month grain export ban on wheat, rye, corn, and other types of grain and cereals.

Central Asian Countries to Raise Demand for Russian Grain This Season

Vladimir Petrichenko, General Director of ProZerno, says the demand for Russian grain will be higher this season from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan says the country should produce about 15.3m tonnes of grains. This is around 5m tonnes lesser than the last year, hence the need to import.

Romania Set to Increase Wheat Exports as Harvest Reaches 14-Year High

Drought destroyed around 40% of Romania’s harvest last year, dragging it down to just 6.4m tonnes. This year, the average yield per hectare has gone up to 5.35 tonnes. Romania typically consumes between 2.5 and 3m tonnes per year (tpy) of wheat, which would free up around 7m tonnes for export.

Ukraine Has Exported More Than 6 MMT Grain So Far This Season

The press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported that Ukraine has exported 6.177m tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2021/22 MY and as of August 20. Particularly, Ukraine exported 2.931m tonnes of wheat (-476 thsd tonnes y-o-y), 2.07m tonnes of barley (+372 thsd tonnes), 5.9k tonnes of rye (+5.6 thsd tonnes), and 1.153m tonnes of corn (+645 thsd tonnes).

$4.2M in Grants Awarded to Improve Polypropylene Curbside Recycling

The Recycling Partnership announced a third round of grant funding via its Polypropylene Recycling Coalition, distributing an additional $1.8 million in catalytic grants to help advance Polypropylene recycling and reduce plastic waste in the US.
