Pakistan to Import 300k tonnes of Sugar
- On Tuesday, the Pakistani Government approved the import of 300k tonnes of sugar in order to ease their supply deficit.
- Pakistan, which had been exporting sugar until earlier this year, suffered a production shortage this season and is unable to meet domestic demand.
World Record Maize Harvest Expected
- Led by expectations for a record world maize harvest, global total grains (wheat and coarse grains) production in 2020/21 is forecast to increase by 48m t y/y, to a new peak of 2,225m.
- Total consumption could climb by 39m t, to 2,218m, with most of the gain for feed and industrial uses of maize.

- Pacific Ethanol Inc. plans to double its high-grade alcohol production capacity this year in order to make more hand sanitiser and alcohol.
Namibian Dairy Industry Running Dry
- Namibian milk production will amount to 16m litres this year.
- Consumption hovers around 38 million litres.
- A flurry of producers have left the game, meaning the industry now only has 12 of its previous 45 producers left.
