Rains above average
- Rains during the months of Oct-Mar, before the new season, are essential for cane development.
- And thankfully for 2020/21, apart from MS, all regions registered a good volume of rains.
- With precipitation in line with historical average, and better maintenance practices, CS is expected to have more cane available for crush this 2020/21 season.
- We maintain our estimate of 600mmt of cane processed, which represents a 2.1% increase from the previous year.
Increase in Ag. Yields
- Close to 60% of the cane harvested in the present season are dependent on rains from Oct to Mar.
- With normal rains for most of the CS, an increase of over 2% in agricultural yields is expected – leading to cane availability over 600mmt.
- The total amount of cane crushed in 2020/21 will depend how weather behaves throughout the season.
