What have you been up to?

Currently, the main task in the field is doing land preparation for 22/23 crop season. Cane plantings usually start in October.

In Thailand, the post-rainy season growing season starts in October – November in the Northeast region. I’ve decided to allocate 70% of my planting area to cane next season. The rest will be cassava.

I will also need to apply the herbicide to prevent the weed growth.

What stage is your crop at?

The existing cane crop is still in the moderate condition. I’ve decided to abandon some cane fields in low land areas where it very muddy and difficult for the machinery to access and operate.

What’s your biggest concern?

The main issue is still with the lack of workers as I mentioned in a previous diary.

I expect a prolonged rainfall this year in Thailand causing difficulties for land preparation. This could affect the start of the growing season and also could affect the cane crushing season due to start in December as well.
