- Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been the largest producer and is yet to finish operations completely.
- Maharashtra’s (MH) final production number totalled 6.1m tonnes, down 4.72m tonnes year-on-year (YoY).
India’s 19/20 Production: The Last Stretch
- India has produced 26.8m tonnes of sugar to date; this is an 18% decline from last season.
- 18 mills remain crushing, which is eight more than were operational this time last year.
Uttar Pradesh: The Finale
- UP have produced 12.55m tonnes of sugar to date and may still hit a high of 12.65m tonnes.
- This is because 11% of UP’s mills remain operational and could add a further 0.1m tonnes to the total.
- UP’s mills have produced 6% more sugar than they had done at this point last year.
Maharashtra: Over the Finish Line
- MH has finished production, having produced 10k tonnes in the last fortnight.
- Their production totals just 6.1m tonnes this season, down 4.72m tonnes YoY.
Karnataka: A Rapid Decline
- Production has ceased in KN.
- It picked up very quickly at the start of the season, second only to 18/19’s pace in the last five years.
- Production decline just as quick, however. Once the peak was reached in H2’Jan, everything slowed.
