Last week, during the workshop “Mine and Energy Market Initiative”, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida, stated that he hopes to have ten law projects related to the electricity , oil and gas and mining sectors by the beginning of November to hand over to the next government.

During the event, the ministry also presented alternatives to contain the increase of subsidies and charges on electricity bills. Among them, the feasibility of a ceiling for the Energy Development Account (CDE).

Changing ministry, Joaquim Leite, Minister of the Environment, attended the inauguration of the first green hydrogen plant in the country, Unigel, in Bahia.

Talking about the companies, good results, and others that, despite not having been officially disclosed, are messing with the market.

Starting with the state-owned company that does not leave the headlines, Petrobras started the week with the news that its board of directors approved a new guideline for setting fuel prices in the domestic market.

The following day, the Brazilian oil company announced a further reduction in the prices of gasoline sold to distributors, this time by R$0.15 per liter.

Still in the headlines, and confirming market expectations , Petrobras reported net income attributable to shareholders of R$54.3 billion in the second quarter of the year , an increase of 26.8%. The result, one of the largest in its history for a quarter, allowed additional dividend payments to shareholders.

Equinor also had good results, with net income of US$ 68 billion in the quarter. 

On the electric side, Neoenergia reported a profit of R$ 11 billion , and announced the expectation of selling non-strategic assets in up to 12 months , and EDP, with a profit of R$ 381.1 million, maintained its strategy of growing in energy solar power plant and sell control of UTE Pecém.

Ending on a more sensitive subject, but which was not necessarily a surprise to the market, GE internally announced a suspension on sales of new wind turbines manufactured in Brazil framed in local content.
