  • Thailand exported 242k tonnes of white sugar in April, down 68k tonnes month-on-month (MoM). 
  • The largest offtakers were Vietnam (52kmt), Cambodia (38kmt), China (33kmt) and Taiwan (31kmt). 
  • Thailand have exported 1.1m tonnes of white sugar so far in 2020. 

White Sugar Shipments: Down, But Only Just 

  • Thailand’s pace of exports was slightly down in April compared to the previous month. 
  • It was also nearly 60k tonnes lower than in the same month last year.

  • Vietnam saw the largest monthly reduction 29k tonnes; this certainly impacted the overall difference between March and April’s line up.

Top Refined Destinations (2020) 

  • Vietnam, Cambodia, China and Taiwan are amongst Thailand’s top 10 smuggling destinations so far in 2020. 
  • These four regions continued to be a strong presence in April’s line-up, having had relatively consistent offtakes for months.
